About AIFS

Founded in 1964, the American Institute For Foreign Study (AIFS) has more than 40 years of experience in organizing study abroad programs. We have helped more than 1.2 million participants realize their dream of international education and cultural exchange.

Benefits and Locations

Every year, nearly 5000 U.S. undergraduates choose to study with AIFS at one of our 24 international campus locations in 16 countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Costa Rica, China, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Peru, Russia, South Africa and Spain. AIFS College Study Abroad offers high-quality, college-level courses in subject areas as diverse as Islamic Studies, French Cinema, Business and Engineering. Most AIFS campuses offer courses in English or in foreign  languages from beginner to advanced levels, so you don’t have to know a foreign language to study abroad. Unlike many other study abroad programs or independent study options, AIFS guarantees its program fees in dollars. Our program fee is also all-inclusive, making it simple for you to live and study abroad and experience all that the world has to offer.

Scholarships

AIFS annually awards more than $250,000 in scholarships to summer and semester students who submit application materials and demonstrate high academic achievement. Scholarships are available for both summer and semester programs. AIFS awards two Diversity Scholarships for 50% of the program fee and round trip airfare, one per semester. Three runner-up AIFS Diversity Scholarships of $2,000 each are also awarded each semester. In addition, AIFS has joined with Diversity Abroad to sponsor $20,000 in scholarship money to deserving, under-represented students to study abroad in 2009. These scholarships bring the important objective of increasing international opportunities for traditionally under-represented
students together with two leading organizations in cultural exchange. Diversity Abroad will be responsible for choosing the deserving recipients of these scholarships.
